On Wednesday Apple released iOS 4.0.2 which patches the same exploit used by comex to bring us jailbreakme.com. Oddly enough, Apple failed to release the patch for the iPhone 2G and iPod Touch 1G. Even though they acknowledged that the security risk is present across all devices, they left out those particular users. Luckily, Saurik (of Cydia fame) was not about to let that happen.

Apple has rolled out a new category in the App Store called Try Before You Buy. But before you get excited about testing that $80 Navigon app, the category is only filled with apps that have "full" and "lite" versions. Unfortunately at this time, it's impossible to "try" an app like that unless you actually buy it. Hopefully sometime in the near future Apple will create a decent method of allowing users to try apps before committing to them since at this moment there is no return/refund policy if you don't like what you bought.

If you were one of the earliest users of JailbreakMe.com 2.0 you may have noticed that your FaceTime, MMS and/or Visual Voicemail was not working afterwards although you had a successful jailbreak. This is a known issue and can be easily fixed.

If you haven't heard, the second iteration of jailbreakme.com was released a little over an hour ago. Dubbed "JailbreakMe 2.0" it will jailbreak pretty much all devices including the iPhone 3G running iOS 4.0, 4.0.1 and 3.2.1. It's been a while since we've seen a browser based jailbreak like the original JailbreakMe.com but for those of us on iPhone 4, we're just glad to see a jailbreak!

Apple has released the plans for their iPhone 4 Case Program today. If you purchased an iPhone 4, you must download and install the app iPhone 4 Case Program from the Apple Store. Once you run the app, you must choose the case you want and the app will IMEI number to verify that you have an iPhone 4 and qualify for the offer.

The latest version takes advantage of the iOS4 multitasking capabilites to allow you to receive calls and IM's when other apps are running or even when your iPhone is locked.

As promised, Apple has released the iPhone 4.0.1 software that was suppose to help with the signal problems of the iPhone 4. At this posting, all we can tell you for sure is that the signal bars are slightly larger when there is less signal. This is basically cosmetic since nothing changes in the amount of signal you have. Also, they have reportedly altered the algorithm for calculating how much signal the iPhone has at any given moment. This will not change anything besides the amount of bars actually showing.

Two members of the Dev Team, Planetbeing and Musclenerd, have been collaborating on jailbreaking and unlocking the iPhone 4 for the last week and have finally unlocked the iPhone 4. It didn't take them long to jailbreak but the unlock was a much more difficult task, and probably the most important.

In a blog post simply titled Meh geohot is reporting that he received his iPhone 4 in the mail yesterday and by 3:19am he had successfully jailbroken it. Whether or not this is an easily created screenshot from another device or is the real thing, thousands of people are waking up this morning with renewed hopes of the jailbreak. But with them come a thousand more skeptics.
