Apple announces compatibility for Game Center

In case you were wondering if your device would be compatible with Apple's new Game Center, they have announced the list of devices that will benefit from the new service when iOS4.1 is released. While most devices are expected, one in particular is omitted.

Here is the list of devices:

iPhone 4
iPhone 3GS
iPod Touch 4th gen.
iPod Touch 3rd gen.
iPod Touch 2nd gen.

Apple announces 1 million joined Ping in first 48 hours, new iTunes logo

Within the first 48 hours of the release of iTunes 10, Apple reports that Ping registrations exceeded 1 million new members. If this is true, then over 1/3 of total downloads of the latest rendition of iTunes resulted in a new Ping member. This is very promising news for Apple with the latest entry in the social networking world.

On another note, with the release of iTunes 10 Apple has unveiled their new logo. Along with it came all the internet chatter. Many Apple fans like it but there are many hard-core fans that don't like the change and have voiced their displeasure.

Comex may release a userland jailbreak for iOS4.1

Musclenerd, of the Dev Team, has reported that it may be possible that comex will release another userland jailbreak, a la jailbreakme.com, for the upcoming iOS4.1. It's also possible that there is a bootrom jailbreak although that would take much more time to release than the userland jailbreak because of the time it will take to perfect the jailbreak, package and release it to the masses.

Although Apple released iOS4.0.2 to close the exploit used for jailbreakme.com, it's possible that there's another way in and comex has found it. We won't know until the final iOS4.1 is

Whoever is in charge of Apple UK must be getting an earful from Steve Jobs right about now. In a total gaffe, the UK site reported that iOS4.1 would be released on the 8th of September as can be seen from the screenshot above. Since the snaffu, the site has been update to say "Coming Soon" but not before the screenshot circulated the world!

As always, if you are jailbroken, please stay away from the update until a solution is released. As always, we will stay up-to-date on any new developments.

iTunes 10 now available and safe for jailbreak and unlock

Apple has made the latest rendition of iTunes (iTunes 10) available for download. It contains the new social network for music program called Ping. At the moment, the new iTunes is compatible with the latest jailbreak and unlock solutions (according to Musclenerd of the Dev Team). It appears the DFU mode, syncing and custom ipsw's are all still ok. As of this writing, the only issue seems to be with Wi-Fi Sync which is no longer working.

Ping Social Network for Music

Today Apple introduced Ping, a social network for music. If you haven't gotten enough of social networking with Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, LinkedIn, etc. then here's another one that's bound to take music lovers by storm. Not only will you be able to follow your friends, but you'll be able to see their music likes and dislikes as well as share your own. But following your friends isn't the only thing you can do.

With the new Ping, you'll be able to follow your favorite artists as well as follow your friends. You'll be updated on their latest music, their favorite music,

iPad to get iOS4.x support with 4.2 release in November

When Steve Jobs announced the impending releases of iOS4.1 and 4.2 it was announced that the iPad will finally get iOS4.x support. Reportedly, iOS4.2 will be released sometime in November and will include the iPad support. Finally Apple will have brought all the new devices in line with the latest firmware releases.

At the keynote address today by Steve Jobs, Apple announed the upcoming release of iOS4.1 and 4.2 (coming sometime in November). The release of iOS4.1 will supposedly resolve some of the most pesky issues of late such as the proximity sensor issues, Bluetooth issues and the degraded performance issues of iOS4.x running on the iPhone 3G.

There will also be some new features in the release: High Dynamic Range photos which should give users a much better photo taking experience, HD video upload over wifi, TV show rentals and Apple's new Game Center.

The New Apple TV

Apple revealed it's new Apple TV device and although it's much smaller than it's predecessor, it packs a big punch. This streaming-only device is only 1/4 the size of the previous model. It also has it's own built-in power supply, ethernet connection, 802.11n wireless and HDMI.
With the new Apple TV, you will be able to stream movies and TV shows directly from iTunes or from your own computer without having to store anything locally. Apple will be offering some $.99 rentals and will also have full streaming support for Netflix. You will even be able to stream movie rentals the day they are released on DVD
