• "Find My Friends" service coming to iOS 4.3

After diving deeper and deeper into the iOS 4.3 beta, it appears that there is a new feature called "Find My Friends" that has been included. It appears to be related to the MobileMe service. Apparently Apple is creating a location service for iDevice users to keep track of the location of their friends.

Location-based services generally use the GPS signal of the device to broadcast the where-abouts of friends. Loopt and Google Latitude offer this type of service now and it looks like Apple is bringing it to their line-up too.

Hm, I can not warm to that feature. It has a touch of "Big Brother is watching you" for me.

I hear ya Ras but if you have kids or a "wayward" spouse, it could come in handy!
