This past Tuesday, the New York Observer reported on a 17 year old named Fei "Phil" Lam who has been selling white, iPhone 4 conversion kits that he has imported from China. With his WhiteiPhone4Now.com website, Lam says business is definitely booming.
But with this fame and notariety for the high school teen comes some consequences too. Although he has claimed to have sold between $60,000 to $130,000 in kits with $30,000 to $40,000 of that estimated to be profits, it may not be enough for the legal woes that may be coming.
Since he claims to be getting the parts from a contact that once worked at Apple's Foxconn, there is an investigation pending as to how the contact is getting the parts. Lam is in touch with a lawyer about the problem but maintains the business open in the meantime.
