AT&T announced today that it is set to buy T-Mobile USA from Deutsche Telekom in a cash and stock deal for a reported $39 billion. Currently, AT&T is the second largest mobile phone carrier in the United States but would easily surpass Verizon if the deal goes through. With this deal, the number of major carriers in the United States would drop from four to three.

I was reading the news when I saw this info: BlackPad to answer iPad.
Caught my atention because i know there's a android tablet and windows tablet trying to beat the iPad.

BlackPad,(Blackberry tablet) is scheduled for release in the fourth quarter of this year. It will feature a seven-inch touch screen and one or two built-in cameras, they said.

Apple has made the latest rendition of iTunes (iTunes 10) available for download. It contains the new social network for music program called Ping. At the moment, the new iTunes is compatible with the latest jailbreak and unlock solutions (according to Musclenerd of the Dev Team). It appears the DFU mode, syncing and custom ipsw's are all still ok. As of this writing, the only issue seems to be with Wi-Fi Sync which is no longer working.

Today Apple introduced Ping, a social network for music. If you haven't gotten enough of social networking with Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare, LinkedIn, etc. then here's another one that's bound to take music lovers by storm. Not only will you be able to follow your friends, but you'll be able to see their music likes and dislikes as well as share your own. But following your friends isn't the only thing you can do.

According to CNET, Microsoft's Dharmesh Mehta has reported that Hotmail will get Exchange ActiveSync on Monday August 30th, 2010. This will allow Hotmail uses to get push email notifications on their cell phones and other mobile devices. Unfortunately there are some devices that do not support multiple exchange accounts but for users of the latest iPhone 4, Palm Pre and the coming Windows 7 devices, this will be very useful.

Ok so many of us have updated our Facebook app last night so we can get the new and buzz worthy feature of FB locations. (or whatever is called). In any case as soon as I updated mine I realized that I can no longer use the app as I was getting "unable to load" content error message on pretty much every screen of the app. I tried login off and login back in, but then I got "unable to login please try later" message. I tried deleting and re-installing the app but that didn't work. I looked at some comments in the app store and realized that many people are having the same issues but not all, so I knew it was some app conflict issue or what not.

Let me back up. A couple of weeks ago I switched to the iPhone 4. I was so excited to get my hands on it that I decided to port my number to AT&T and sell my beloved factory-unlocked 3GS. So I got my new phone, and the honeymoon was over quickly. From dropped calls to sporadic service to finally getting the "No SIM Installed" error. I had enough. So I sat down in front of my brand new 15.4" MacBook Pro and composed an email to Mr. Jobs.

Here is the email I sent:

iPhoneModding has now added Facebook Connect to the forum so that you have the option of logging in with your Facebook account as well as automatic posting of articles, threads and replies to your Facebook profile. Also added is the "Like" button as well. You will also notice that when you create a new thread, you will have a new checkbox option that says "Publish to Facebook" to automatically post the thread to your Facebook profile.

This past Thursday, Motorola announced that the company will be split up into two separate companies some time in the first quarter of 2011.

Initially the company had planned on spinning off it's mobile devices unit but now it looks like they will combine the mobile devices unit with the home devices unit, which manufactures set-top boxes. It will be led by the current CEO Sanjay Jha. The other division will handle their enterprise mobility solutions and network businesses. It will be led by co-CEO Greg Brown.
