Try to put your iPod on DFU Mode, iTunes will recognize your device.
Then restore and it will (normaly) be OK.

If not, restart your computer and try to restore again.
The problem can also come from your computer.

Question, my iPod touch 4g is used everyday, have had it for just over a year now. It sometimes get hot while it is charging or I am on it for awhile.
Can you get replacement batteries for this? If you think that is going on, I have tried to take as many apps off of it but, bought a new chord. Just want to make sure I don't ruin it. Thanks

I'm pretty sure it's the battery. They're designed to run for about a year with normal use. It's not easy to change the battery. You'll have to go to a specialist for that. But I'm pretty sure that removing apps is not going to help. Good luck!

Thank you. Do you know if you have to get the battery from Apple? I will need to make some calls tomorrow.

Nope. Aftermarket. Here, there's a place called "U Break, iFix". I'm not sure what you have in your area.
