Have you ever been talking to someone and hoped that your phone would ring to give you a quick exit to the conversation? Well, for $0.99 you can with this new app by Magic Tap (http://magictap.net/). Just launch the application and your iPhone will ring with your pre-configured call. Since this is a phone-based app, no minutes are used for the "call"!!

You can customize caller name or number, time to receive the call, vibration and wallpaper: just go to the Settings icon on your device and find FakeCalls there. It was made in this way so the fake call activation is really just one click.
Magic Tap reports that 10% of it's income is donated to various charities.

It's been out for quite some time, that and another app called phony which does the same thing

Update: I just installed this app, and it is crap, i couldn't get anything to work for me, and when i opened the app, my screen did all sorts of crazy flickering....:

I also tried out phony and while it worked, the only useful way for me to do it was to enable insomnia, then background the phony app so that it would work, other wise you need to leave the app open and you can only set fake calls in 5 minute intervals

I think im going to stay away from apps of this nature

I'm not quite sure what you did or what went wrong but the app works flawlessly on my iPhone and two others that I installed it on today. Look who called me:
