View Full Version : Dangerous spots for SEC contenders

No. 2 Alabama got to watch last week as three top-five teams ranked ahead of them were defeated. The break is over; the Crimson Tide have to defend their lofty perch at home against Mississippi, which earned giant-killer credentials last month when it toppled Florida.

Alabama has appeared susceptible to the trap game, demolishing Clemson and Georgia when they were ranked in the top 10 but letting Tulane and Kentucky hang around. QB John Parker Wilson should be able to find spaces for TB Glen Coffee and WR Julio Jones in the Rebels secondary. Their jobs will be easier if OT Andre Smith and blocking TE Travis McCall can neutralize the strong Ole Miss front, anchored by DE Greg Hardy and DT Peria Jerry.

Rebels QB Jevan Snead can be a dangerous playmaker, but he has as many interceptions (nine) as he does touchdown passes. TB Dexter McCluster can provide a change of pace, so Tide LB Rolando McClain must be prepared to react to direct snaps.
