If it has water damage (I know this will sound crazy), bury the phone in a bowl of rice for a few hours. Then try again later.

cooked or uncooked?

Uncooked. Supposedly it absorbs the water quickly! Just put some uncooked, dry rice in a bowl and bury the iPhone into it!

If the lcd has "bleach" looking spots on it beware. That can be water damage. The problem with wd and the iphone is the only water damage indicators are internal. And to clean the mainboard you have to de-solder the battery.

The sad thing is, Ive personally seen two water damaged iphones apple sent out as replacments.

The last time the lady asked us to take pictures to document it. Apple denied that they re-used water damaged boards, so she sent them copies. I never heard what came out of it but I hope she got some money back out of it.

She should have spots on the screen would be a waste of an iphone
