Google (http://www.gearlive.com/news/tag/google) announced today that it is launching its new beta browser, named Chrome. Available in more than 100 countries supposedly tomorrow, so far it is only for those with Microsoft (http://www.gearlive.com/news/article/q208-google-to-launch-chrome-browser/#) Windows. (The company says it is still working on the Mac and Linux versions.) Google’s official blog (http://googleblog.blogspot.com/) almost apologized for their comic (http://books.google.com/books?id=8UsqHohwwVYC&printsec=frontcover#PPA1,M1) that discussed the joys of their new browser, saying that they tend to “launch early and iterate” and that the mailroom was a bit hasty letting it out. Be that as it may, it took us long enough to get used to Firefox, so we think we will let the hardcores try it first.

I'm not an expert on open source projects but doesn't this make the code publicly available therefore giving virus hackers an inside look at how it works, therefore making it more vulnerable?

Well if I am not mistaken Firefox is open source also and it seems pretty secure. Hopefully it works out I love playing with new Tech

It's working great so far, I'll be testing it for a few days and then form a final opinion. :smokingw:

Installed it, and promptly removed it. The UI is too watered down, very few options and not user-friendly to me. I hope this isn't a taste of what to expect with Android.

"Incognito" browsing function is interesting.

(Developers of that must still live with their parents.)

I would not say it's ugly, just very simple...

After playing with it a little while I find it to buggy for me especially the scrooling with my mousepad. Give it a couple more releases and they might have something:smile:

I don't want to bother with commenting that about your wife... :D

Ugly and simple are not synonim. If something is simple that doesn't mean it's ugly.

Google Chrom is very fast what is big advantage and for beta version is pretty good.

Ok, you win! It's simple! (which means ugly to me)!!!

Web-based applications are likely to become the "norm".
As I understand it, Chrome is designed to work well with web-based applications.
Microsoft must be hoping that Chrome is unsuccessful because if it gains a foothold, the need for a Windows-like OS is going to be diminished.
Don't toss this one away too quickly - this is a Microsoft:Google battle...... maybe the war itself?

I see what you mean but honestly I think we are many, many years away from web-based applications taking over since the broadband service in the United States barely makes the top 10 list of the world. Besides that, there would be a need for nation-wide wifi or else people with laptops will not be able to run their applications.

Until there is a better internet infrastructure, I doubt that Microsoft has anything to worry about.
