If you had any doubts about whether or not 3G was coming, this should remove them:

Apple has been kind enough to let us turn on and off 3G capabilities according to the battey life of our phones!

What choice do they have, the 3G is going to make battery life miserable. :D

It's doubtful since they already have to make room for a GPS chip and accompanying circuitry without compromising on size.

I sympathize with you all. ... I have WiFi settings in my Q 9h, but no WiFi!

Of course the OS in my Q is "generic" Windows Mobile meant for all devices, and since Apple only makes s/w for Apple's iPhone, it would seem to be a real harbinger for 3G.

Well, with a charger at home, a charger at work and one in the car, I can deal with battery issues. Even when I travel (when I most use the iPod feature), I can charge on the plane in the 12volt lighter plugs offered. But what I hate is the slow Edge service. I'm welcoming 3G with open arms!!

Well on most trips I tend to watch two full length movies and maybe another hour of music and can do it without charging. Maybe 5 hours total. And I still have battery when I reach my destination.
